Qualifications
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:
- Completion of a High school diploma with technical and mechanical experience and/or completion of a 2 – 3 year college vocational or technical training program in heavy equipment assembling/repairing/fitting
- Completion of 1 – 3 years of related experience or on-the-job training in assembling/repairing/fitting of heavy equipment machinery and tools
- Experience in product manufacturing environments
- Understanding of mechanical and hydraulic product assembly
- Experience with manufacturing processes and procedures
- Able to read, interpret and follow procedures for mechanical design drawings
- Experience with overhead crane and forklift operations are an asset
- Attention to detail and a high regard for product quality
- Strong organizational skills, both oral and written English, with the ability to clearly articulate ideas and challenges
- Understand and follow all safety requirements and procedures
Description/Duties
Position Overview:
We are in an immediate need for a Heavy Machinery Fitter on a full-time basis.
As a Heavy Machinery Fitter, you must possess a high level of knowledge and experience in working with the operation and assembly of parts, tools and components for customized heavy drilling equipment and machinery. The ideal candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision, and work as a team member with other Machinists, Mechanics and other Manufacturing staff when completing large bulk orders for time sensitive projects. You must have excellent verbal and written English skills when communicating with team members and customers.
- Assembling of mechanical and hydraulic components for customized heavy drilling equipment and machinery
- Installing, fitting and assembling prefabricated metal parts/major components for heavy drilling equipment and machinery
- Following procedures of blueprints, drawings or diagrams in order to assemble and test parts
- Performing in process testing procedures.
- Documenting and assisting in resolving product process issues.
- Using hand tools, power tools, custom fixtures or precision instruments to test equipment
- Operating a forklift and overhead crane to move and align heavy parts in the shop
- Work as a team member with our staff members in the assembly line
- Maintain cleanliness in work and component assembling areas
- Reviewing and inspecting parts, partial assemblies and finished products to ensure quality control.
- Package for shipping and receiving of finished products
Salary, hours of work and location:
$35.00 per hour ($72,800 per annum) (depending on experience), 5 days per week, 40 hours per week.
