Qualifications

  • Heavy Duty Equipment Technician – Certificate of Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal endorsement
  • Minimum 5 years recent experience working in the industry as a journeyperson
  • Minimum of one year in a teaching, leadership, mentoring or coaching role
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Additional Qualifications considered an asset

  • Truck and Transport Mechanic Certificate of Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal endorsement
  • BC Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent teaching certificate
  • BC Class 1 drivers license with Airbrake endorsement

Description/Duties

The School of Trades and Technology seeks applications from qualified candidates to fill a full-time continuing vacancy as Instructor in our Heavy Duty, and Truck and Transport Trades program.

The successful applicant will have the energy, commitment, motivation and experience required to teach all levels from Foundation (pre-apprenticeship) through to 4th year apprentices in all areas of the industry including transportation, construction, forestry, mining, and manufacturing.

  • Capable of thriving in a BC post-secondary education setting that’s welcoming and relevant to Indigenous learners and helping to prepare non-Indigenous students, graduates and employees to better understand, live alongside of, and work with Indigenous peoples.
