Qualifications

  • Electrical Certificate of Qualification, Electrical engineering degree, Applied Science Technology degree or other relevant electrical education required.
  • Red Seal Designation is an asset.
  • FSR B is an asset.
  • 3 – 5 years of previous project coordinating or estimating experience in electrical contracting or a related industry. 
  • Strong understanding of contract law, project management and estimating.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, Power Point, Word, Outlook)
  • Basic knowledge of Bluebeam.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Experience with Accubid and/or MS Project are an asset.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to read, understand and organize construction plans and specifications
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills

Description/Duties

Mustang Contracting is an established and growing Commercial Construction Electrical Contractor based out of Surrey, BC, with active projects throughout the Lower Mainland. We are looking to expand our team with a motivated, hard-working individual looking for secure, year-round work to develop their leadership skills as a job coordinator and estimator.

As an Intermediate Electrical Project Coordinator and Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in the successful execution of a diverse range of electrical projects. Working closely with the project management and estimating team, your responsibilities will encompass coordinating project activities, ensuring seamless collaboration between internal teams, subcontractors, and clients, and maintaining a keen focus on project timelines and budgets. Using Accubid, you will assist in preparing estimates for small to medium sized projects and change orders to produce accurate quotes. Your organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to dynamic project environments will contribute significantly to the overall success of our electrical projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate aspects of the construction process, including requests for information (RFI's), procurement, scheduling, commissioning, Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals
  • Coordinate project communications with internal and external stakeholders
  • With support from management, assist with project schedules, review contracts, estimate changes, purchase materials and equipment and manage the project financial performance
  • Develop / assemble start-up submittals and other project documentation
  • You may also engage with contractors, engineers, architects and vendors
  • Work with foreperson and/or lead hand to review the project documents and discuss labour requirements and staffing
  • Assist with Change order Documentation/Preparation
  • Assist in the review and submittal of shop drawings
  • Assist in plan and specification analysis of the design/drawings for construction
  • Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications
  • Data entry for cost monitoring and reporting systems
  • Assist with preparation of cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
  • Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and assist with economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
  • Perform assigned tasks to support the estimating department, project managers, and field personnel
  • Maintain various estimating and project logs
  • Distribute required information and supply subcontractors with project information as needed
  • Tracking of project labor and materials
  • Promotes safety at the jobsite
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 / year
