Qualifications

What you bring:

  • High school graduate with a trade certificate along with a minimum of four years of post-trade certification work experience in capital and maintenance project coordination, and asset management.
  • Must have proficient use of current office productivity software (Microsoft Office Suite of products) to perform the requirements of the position.
  • Formal project management education is considered an asset.
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively and positively with staff and outside contacts.
  • Ability to work independently, accurately and on own initiative to maintain work output.
  • Must be an organized and detail-oriented individual who can manage competing maintenance and repair priorities.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of health & safety, jobsite hazard awareness, and familiarity with contractor safety management programs.
  • Effective communication skills to record daily work details in VFPA’s maintenance ticketing system and communicate with contractors and stakeholders.

The maintenance coordinator (term for a period up to 1 year) is responsible for procuring, coordinating and administering contracted maintenance services for the port authority and Canada Place facilities and physical assets including docks, wharves, buildings, roadways, rail crossings, utilities, security systems, leachate treatment systems and other equipment. The maintenance coordinator will perform similar duties in the port areas, as directed.

What you do:

  • Coordinate contracted maintenance tasks and conduct inspections and provide reports on the condition of assets.
  • Monitor tenant repair and maintenance of VFPA and Canada Place facilities to ensure compliance with lease agreements and alignment with Asset Management programs.
  • Procure contractors to perform maintenance projects, coordinate and oversee repair activities and progress, and coordinate project close-out with stakeholders to ensure work is completed.
  • Administer and coordinate service agreements with contractors, track performance and quality, review and track invoices, collect and record completed work, and update service standards and requirements for review when it is time to renew agreements or procure the services of another vendor.
  • Develop and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with external contacts including terminal managers and contractors.
  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with budgets and VFPA financial procedures.  Reconcile invoices for purchase orders and/or contracts for services, materials and supplies provided.
  • Perform occasional maintenance repairs as required.
  • Monitor VFPA facilities and other properties for maintenance and security issues and recommend remedial action to appropriate VFPA departments.
  • Perform other assigned duties as required.

Job type: Bargaining Unit, Full-Time, Term, Hybrid

Working environment: Normal office conditions with frequent exposure to adverse weather conditions on operating terminals, roadways, rail yards, and a variety of industrial and commercial sites.
