Job Description Mechanic

The City of Port Moody has an excellent regular, full-time opportunity for a qualified mechanic to assist with the repair and maintenance of all city vehicles and related equipment to ensure their safe operation.

The Mechanic will repair and maintain all City owned and leased vehicles; provide preventative maintenance for all city vehicles and small equipment; perform welding and fabrication to vehicles in the shop and field; and assist with special projects as required.

This position typically works M-F, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Please note that employment with the City of Port Moody is subject to a satisfactory Police Information Check and a satisfactory Driver's Abstract.  

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Journeyman with Red Seal Interprovincial qualification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or Commercial Transport Mechanic (Truck and Transport Mechanic) in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty construction equipment, heavy duty trucks, and machinery 
• Valid CVIP Inspector's certificate  
• Experience planning and directing a quality assurance program for a wide variety of municipal equipment 
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts 
• Class 3 BC Driver's license with Air Endorsement
• EVT Certification would be an asset
