Position Summary

Join our North Vancouver team where you will play a crucial role in troubleshooting, maintaining, installing and repairing various equipment and systems in the plant. We are looking for an individual who is safety-conscious, adaptable, and has a strong mechanical aptitude. The preferred candidate has the knowledge and expertise to work both independently and within a team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on all pumps, compressors, blowers, and gear boxes with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on all motors and generators with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and be competent at motor wiring and testing voltage with minimal supervision.
  • Perform basic repairs and calibration of process and tank instruments, isolation valves and related components, control valves and related components, check valves, relief valves, regulators, and pressure reducers with minimal supervision.
  • Perform basic repairs and troubleshoot heaters, burners, boilers, and peripheral components with minimal supervision.
  • Perform basic PM, repairs and troubleshoot site wheeled and track equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Be competent at piping, tubing, flanging, and servicing vessels, exchangers, coolers, filters, fans, tanks, conveyers, agitators, mixers, separators, HVAC, roofing, buildings, enclosures, trailers, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, ramps, loading stations, various analyzers, refrigeration, cyclones, firefighting equipment, drainage systems, with minimal supervision.
  • Be competent at rigging, crane signaling and operating forklifts, boom lifts and scissor lifts.
    Perform routine oiling, greasing, vibration inspection and equipment inspections.
  • Perform civil duties, construction, carpentry, framing, dry walling, forming, jack hammering, concreting, rebaring, excavations, designing, tool repair, labeling, with minimal supervision.
  • Perform routine process plant and site maintenance; painting, pressure washing, insulating, cleaning, scaffolding, tarping, winterizing, with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on process equipment related to welding and fabrication and safe operation of those various tools with minimal supervision.
  • Understand the re-refinery process and be able to trouble shoot process and equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on equipment in other departments, pail line, filling line, lidder, selection line, pail handling equipment, pallet handling equipment, dock levelers, racking, with minimal supervision.
  • Be proficient at new installations with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain maintenance inventory levels.
  • Maintain housekeeping.
  • Complete internal reports for routine inspections, with action plan and follow-up.
  • Supervise a small group: assign the work to be done, the methods to be used, take responsibility for all of the work of the group, with minimal supervision.
  • Supervise a larger group. Same responsibility as a smaller group but during breakdowns and shutdowns with minimal supervision.
  • Be competent at quality control pertaining to plant, process equipment, site equipment and buildings with minimal supervision.
  • Perform indoctrinations.
  • Perform clerical duties.
  • Write instruction documents.
  • Organize and plan routine maintenance with minimal supervision.

Experience, Qulifications and Education

  • Millwright or Pipefitter technician trades qualification with Red Seal.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract and claims history.
  • Refinery experience is an asset.
  • Must be able to perform labor intensive duties, capable of heavy lifting (up to 40 kg) and willingness to work outside in adverse weather conditions.
